Pamela Hinman – Violin
Pamela Hinman is from Calgary Alberta,
Canada, where she began studying violin at the age of
three. She continued her musical education at the Conservatory
of Mount Royal College, where she was a member of the
Academy program and received her Music Performance Diploma.
She continued to complete her Bachelor of Music Degree
in Performance at the University of Calgary, and then
her Master’s
at the University of Toronto.
Pamela has been greatly involved in
Toronto’s music
scene since relocating there in 2004. She is a member of
the highly acclaimed Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra, performing
chamber music with internationally renowned musicians such
as Andre LaPlante, Steven Isserliss, and Mayumi Seiler.
Pamela also works regularly with the Canadian Opera Company
Orchestra, performing a wide range of operas including
Wagner’s Ring Cycle. As a teacher, she is actively
involved all over the city in many different settings including
her own private studio, Branksome Hall, and most recently
with The Hammer Band, an outreach program providing violin
lessons to underprivileged kids in Toronto.
Lydia Munchinsky – Cello
Cellist Lydia Munchinsky is a graduate
of the Performance Diploma Program of The Glenn Gould
School of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
A student of Simon Fryer, she was also a member of the
Veritas Piano Quartet, the school’s ensemble in residence. Veritas performed
in various music festivals across Ontario and has been
featured on CBC Radio Two’s “Music Around Us” series.
Lydia also has her ARCT in performance for both piano and
cello.
Lydia Munchinsky (nee Helsdon) grew
up near Aylmer Ontario and began piano lessons at the
age of four. She began studying cello when she was ten,
and at the ages of ten and twelve performed for Dr. Suzuki
at the International Suzuki Conventions in Australia
and Korea. After high school, Lydia also studied for
a term at Swiss l’Abri, an International Christian
Study and Philosophy Centre. While there, she met her husband
Marty, whom she married in 2003.
Lydia currently lives and works as a freelance
musician and teacher in Toronto. She has played in music
theatre productions at Stage West and Theatre Aquarius
and enjoys performing in various solo and chamber music
recitals across the city. She also performed the Haydn
D+ Concerto with the Deep River Orchestra last October.
In her spare time Lydia enjoys painting, playing sports
and making ice cream.
Mariko Kamachi-Cosbey – Piano
MarikoKamachi, born in Saitama, Japan, studied at the
Royal Conservatory of Music's Glenn Gould School as a student
of Leslie Kinton. She began her piano study at the age
of five with Mitsuo Yoshino, a graduate of Toho College
of Music in Japan.
Mariko is an active chamber musician. In
Toronto, she has performed on the Alicier Arts chamber
music series and performing on the Canadian Opera Company's
Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre concert series. In Regina,
she recently performed a recital with cellist Peter Cosbey
on the Regina Musical Club concert series which will be
broadcast on CBC radio.
Composers:
Sharbel Dalal
Sharbel was born in 1982 to a Christian
family in the port city of Haifa which is located on the
eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. He started his
musical studies at the age of 5 with basic rhythmic training.
At the age of 8 he started studying Piano with Mr. Theodor
Broder at the Rubin Conservatory of Music in Haifa. He
continue studying with Mr. Broder until his retirement,
then Sharbel studied with Ms. Rieta Lesuchen also a teacher
at the Rubin Conservatory in Haifa.
After graduating from High School, Sharbel attended the
university in Haifa and received a B.Sc in computer science.
After graduating from university, and while continuing
his piano training with Ms. Rieta Lesuchen, Sharbel decided
to move to Canada and apply to study composition at the
University of Toronto.
Sharbel studies piano with Mr. John Kruspe and composition
with Mr. Alexander Rapaport and also studied with Mr. Christos
Hatzis. Sharbel plans to pursue a doctoral degree in composition
while trying to pursue a piano performance career as well
as a career as a composer.
Alexander Rapoport
Alexander Rapoport has been an active
composer in Toronto since 1982 and has received commissions
in such diverse media as choral, orchestral and chamber
music, incidental music for theatre, musical comedy,
children’s opera
and film. Rapoport studied composition in Vienna with Augustin
Kubizek at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende
Kunst (now known as the Musikuniversität Wien). His
works are still performed regularly in Austria. Rapoport
also studied with Lothar Klein at the University of Toronto,
where he earned his Master of Music and Doctor of Music
Degrees. He is now a senior lecturer at the Faculty of
Music, University of Toronto and the Division of Humanities,
University of Toronto at Sacrborough.
Rapoport’s principal interests
are traditionalism in composition and exploring the connection
between music and theatre through composition of incidental
music as well as approaching problems of composition
from the point of view of theatre.
